Saugeen Psychology is a Practice in Psychological Assessment
The purpose of a psychological assessment is to examine your child’s cognitive, academic, social/emotional and behavioural strengths and weaknesses in order to better understand his or her needs for optimal learning and positive adjustment.
The assessment process includes interviews with you and your child, formal testing of intelligence, memory, other cognitive processes, attention and social/emotional adjustment, as well as a review of school history and consultation with school staff, where possible. All of this information is compiled and interpreted so as to make recommendations to support learning and success for your child.
Children from age 6 on to young adulthood are seen for assessments as difficulties with learning can emerge at any stage. A psychological assessment can lead to supports for students in elementary and high school, as well as those transitioning to the post-secondary level.
Colleges and universities provide accommodations for students with properly diagnosed and documented disabilities, including those that affect learning and productivity.
